Short answers about joining, building and prizes. Anything else, ask in the Discord.
Joining
- I've never done a hackathon. Can I still join?
- Yes. Sub48 is built for first-timers. The brief is sized so one beginner can finish it in a weekend.
- Do I need a team?
- No. Solo is fine. If you want a partner, post in #find-a-teammate on Discord.
- Does it cost anything?
- Edition #01 is free. From Edition #02 (27 Nov), entry is ₹50.
Building
- What do I need to build with?
- A laptop, internet and a free GitHub account. Any language or framework is fine.
- Can I use ChatGPT, Claude or Copilot?
- Yes. You're judged on what works, not how you wrote it. Just list them in your README.
- What if I get stuck?
- Ask in #help on Discord anytime. There's also a one-hour live Q&A in #help on Saturday at 12:00 IST, all in chat.
- Can I submit something I built before?
- No. Work must start after the brief unlocks, and your commit history shows when.
Prizes and results
- What can I win?
- Paid AI subscriptions. Edition #01: the winner gets 1 month of ChatGPT Go (₹400 Google Play credit) once 10 builds are submitted, plus a Hall of Fame spotlight. From Edition #02: the winner picks 1 month of ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro (₹2,000 credit) and the runner-up gets ChatGPT Go. Everyone who submits a working build gets a certificate: Crew for every builder, First Officer for the runner-up, Captain for the winner.
- When are results out?
- For Edition #01, results are out by Thu 26 Nov and prizes are sent by Sat 28 Nov.
