Privacy policy

Sub48 runs monthly online build contests for beginners in India. This page explains what we collect when you use the Sub48 website and its contests, why, where it is kept and what you can ask us to do with it. We keep it short and specific to how the site actually works.

What we collect

  • From your Google account, when you sign in: your name, email address and profile photo. We never see or store your Google password.
  • Your Sub48 profile: your full name, Discord username, GitHub profile (if you add one) and your confirmation that you are 18 or older and live in India.
  • Contest entries: which contests you register for, and for paid contests the UPI transaction ID (UTR) you give us.
  • Submissions: your team or project name, your teammate’s email if you add one, your GitHub repo, demo video link and live link.
  • Messages you send us by email or Discord.

We do not collect payment card or bank details, government IDs or your location. We do not use analytics, advertising trackers or tracking cookies.

Why we use it

  • To let you sign in and keep your profile, so you don’t retype it for every contest.
  • To run each contest: confirm who registered, receive submissions, judge them and contact winners.
  • To check eligibility and fair play, for example that a team’s work started after the brief.
  • To send prizes. Prize codes go privately to the winners’ email addresses.
  • To publish results: the winner’s and runner-up’s names, team or project name, score and project links appear on the site and on our channels. Other entrants’ scores are not published.

We do not sell, rent or trade your data, and we don’t use it for advertising.

Where it is kept

  • Firebase (Google Cloud), in the Mumbai region (asia-south1), for sign-in, profiles and entries.
  • Google Forms and Google Sheets in the organiser’s Google account, which receive a copy of each registration and submission.
  • Cloudflare Pages serves the website. Fonts load from Google Fonts and the 3D ocean loads from the jsDelivr network, so those services see your IP address when the page loads.

Only the organiser can see your profile and entries. The database is locked so that each signed-in person can read and change only their own data.

How long we keep it

We keep your profile while your account is active. Contest entries are kept for 12 months after a contest ends, so results can be checked and questions answered, and then deleted. Published results of winners stay on the Hall of Fame unless the winner asks us to remove them.

Your choices and rights

You can view and edit your profile at any time from the Contests page. You can ask us to send you a copy of your data, correct it or delete your account and entries. Email us from the address you signed in with and we will reply within 7 days and act within 30 days. Deleting your data before results are out withdraws your entry from that contest.

Storage in your browser

The site keeps your sign-in session in your browser’s storage so you stay signed in. It is removed when you sign out. There are no advertising or analytics cookies.

Age

Sub48 is only for people aged 18 or older. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone younger, and we delete it if we find out.

Changes

If we change this policy, we update the date at the top of this page. If the change is significant, we tell registered members by email or on Discord before it takes effect.
