These terms apply when you use the Sub48 website, create an account or take part in a Sub48 contest. By signing in or registering for a contest you agree to them, together with the rules of each contest, the refund policy and the code of conduct.
Who can take part
- You must be 18 or older and live in India.
- One account per person. Use your own Google account and your real name.
- Teams have 1 or 2 people. Each person registers on their own account.
Your account
Keep your Google account secure; anything done through your Sub48 account is treated as done by you. You can edit your profile at any time and ask us to delete your account (see the privacy policy).
Contests
- Each contest has its own dates, fee, prizes and rules, shown on its contest page and the rules page. Those rules form part of these terms.
- The brief is released at the stated time. Work must start after it. AI tools, libraries and templates are allowed when you say in your README what you used.
- Submissions are accepted only through the site, before the stated deadline. Late entries are not judged.
- Judging uses the published rubric. The judges’ decisions on scores, winners and eligibility are final.
Your work
Everything you build stays yours. Sub48 claims no ownership of your code, idea or design. By submitting, you allow Sub48 to view and judge your project and, if you win or are runner-up, to show your name, team or project name, score, project links and demo video on the site, in the Hall of Fame and on Sub48’s channels. Ask us any time to remove your project from future posts.
You confirm that your submission is your own team’s work, made during the contest, and doesn’t break anyone else’s rights or the law.
Fees and prizes
- Some contests are free. Paid contests show their fee before you register. Payment terms and refunds follow the refund policy.
- Prizes are described on each contest page. Cash-value prizes are given as Indian Google Play codes, emailed privately to winners within the stated time. Prizes can’t be exchanged for cash.
- If a prize becomes unavailable, we may replace it with one of equal or greater value.
- Some prizes depend on a minimum number of entries. When that applies, the contest page says so.
- Winners are responsible for any tax due on their prize.
- AI subscription prizes (such as ChatGPT or Claude plans) are bought by Sub48 as Google Play credit for the winner to subscribe. ChatGPT is a trademark of OpenAI and Claude is a trademark of Anthropic. Sub48 is independent and not affiliated with either, and the plans are governed by their own terms.
Fair play
We may refuse, disqualify or remove an entry or account that breaks the contest rules or the code of conduct, for example copied work, code written before the brief, a fake demo, multiple accounts or harassment. Fees for disqualified entries are not refunded.
Changes to a contest
We may change dates, extend deadlines or cancel a contest if something outside our control happens, such as a platform outage. We will announce changes on the site and Discord. If a paid contest is cancelled, fees are refunded in full.
The service
Sub48 is run by one organiser, as is, with care but without guarantees that the site will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, Sub48 is not liable for indirect losses, lost work or lost opportunities. Our total liability to you is limited to the fees you paid for the contest concerned. Keep your own copies of your work, for example in your GitHub repo.
Other services
Sign-in uses Google. Your project may use GitHub, Google Drive and other services, each with its own terms. We are not responsible for them.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. Changes don’t affect a contest you have already registered for, unless needed for legal or safety reasons.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes go to the courts of India. Please contact us first; most problems are solved quickly by email.
